Athena

Education: PhD Chemistry, University of Mississippi (in progress), B.S. Chemistry, Yale College

Areas of Expertise: Math, Physics, & Chemistry

With three years of tutoring experience, Athena has honed her skills in guiding students through complex chemistry concepts and problems. Athena’s tutoring style is interactive and supportive. She believes in the importance of not leaving any student behind, regardless of their current level of understanding. She employs a strategy of “feeding” questions to students, facilitating a dialogical learning experience rather than a monologue. Her goal is to create a non-judgmental environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and confident in their ability to master the material.

In addition to her tutoring experience, Athena has been actively involved in significant research projects in the field of computational astrochemistry. She has completed five research projects, all of which have resulted in publications, showcasing her commitment to advancing knowledge in her field. Currently, Athena is working on four research projects, with three identified as priority projects. Two of these projects are her own initiatives, focusing on the synthesis and potential observation of silica and silicate precursors in circumstellar media, highlighting her ability to lead and contribute substantially to ongoing scientific investigations.

For fun, Athena enjoys spending quality time with her two cats, Cosmo and Wanda. She is also a fan of trivia nights at local venues, video gaming, and hosting bonfires, showcasing her well-rounded personality and her ability to balance work with leisure.
